I never had Snapchat, or TikTok. I’ve only ever had Facebook and Instagram, but I agree with you that I used to be so much more creative before I had a smartphone, writing was so much easier, or I remember it being easier… This is the reason I deleted Instagram last year, when I realised what it had done to my creativity. Well, I’m back on it now, but I honestly think the spell is broken, it’s still addictive but I can see what it’s doing now and I keep thinking about deleting it again. I’ve been reading The Anxious Generation by Jonathan Haidt and really recommend it. I’m out of the age range he is talking about (I was born in 1990) but I still think smartphones and social media affected me in the way he talks about….
I relate so much to what you're saying about Instagram. Smartphones really have taken a toll on creativity, and it's so sad. And thank you for reminding me that I need to pick up The Anxious Generation again! I started reading it right before I got pregnant with my toddler, and it's been sitting on my bookshelf ever since. I can see it from where I'm sitting 😅
Oh I'm so glad. College, while it has its joys, certainly holds plenty of uncertainty about the future. Here's to feeling more like Lizzie Bennet in the future!
I didn't know you were writing a book!!! How exciting! I can't wait to hear more about it when you're ready to share. I all but stopped writing as a music major in school...although like you, writing had already declined a lot in my teen years, I was too busy socializing and shopping 😂 I started writing again in 2019 and it was honestly the best thing for me 💖

I absolutely adore the way you write.
This is so sweet, thank you ❤️
Thank you for making me feel better about my life as a 21 year old college student who's been feeling very Charlotte Lucas lately
